Global Brand Refresh

Elements of the design were inspired by and were reflected in one another. With photography, the dancer’s poses spoke to Greek mythology and classical demigods more than traditional ballet forms. This suggested a creative direction around design, typography and copy approach, where throughout the work we strived to capture a poetic meter that suggested a unique, but also not completely defined feeling.

Repertory Season

Seasonal designs took inspiration from storylines of the ballets. A collection of styles was created through consistencies in form, but also flexible enough to breathe individually with variations in typography, color and photography, letting each performance have its own personality.

San Francisco Ballet wanted to re-envision their brand creative to reflect new Artistic Director Tamara Rojo’s imagination, passion, and spirit. Michael was creative director and design principal for the global brand refresh and the 23/24 repertory season.
